Cool + beautiful turn for Muse, backed by clever writing, production/layering.
  • I'd rather listen to

a senior citizen farting in a public place where it smells like they crapped their pants yet refuse to acknowledge. This album is one of those grandpa and grandma farts

This album is dramatic, fun, catchy, full of nostalgic charm, and is a great journey through every single track. I enjoy the unconventional politics, instrumentality, and variety of sounds. Complex pop, electronic choruses, and orchestral accents make this band stand out. Worth a listen!

I loved Drones from the first listen, but this one will have to grow on me, I think. Some decent tracks, but not getting me too excited.
  • The thing about muse...

You have these moments, when you hear some arrangement, something you don't expect, and it makes you squirm in your seat saying, "Woah..." You don't have to love every song... I don't. Not Muse, not BB King, not Queen, nor Metallica... It's not about slobbering over every note you hear on your phone, or your old CD's, or tapes back in the day... It's those consistant moments with them that happen over and over where you didn't think you'd hear something awesome like you just did... From Sunburn to Feeling Good, Our Time is Running Out, Uprising, Supermassive..., Knights..., just about all of 2nd Law, Reapers, and now Something Human, Propaganda... The list of tracks over the last 20 years (UGH has it been that long??? I'm getting old)... and great live shows to boot. And that's saying a lot as I first saw them in SF at Not So Silent Night when they were the OPENING ACT!! I wish they had closed, so much better than Modest Mouse... Opinions here are worth less than you paid for them. Mine is no exception! :)
  • Great Production & Sound? Yes. New Medlodies? No.

Muse is one of my favorate bands, but the past few albms have fallen short for me. This album is brilliantly produced and has an awesome use of sound mixture. Alot of songs are great for the "atmospheric type" of songs - which is not a bad thing at all, however, the medodies seem redunant and almost a parody of their other albums. I still think the material is great, but the songs sound like older songs in different packages. "Get up and FIght" is the best track in my opinion. It sounds like muse, but fresh and has a great chorus melody. Also Propaganda is pretty unique and cool. Well see if this album grows on me more. I have to say, thank god they havent completely lost it like most other bands these days.
  • Quality Muse!

This album has a very evident insipiration from previous decades, but is somehow ahead of it's time. Don't expect to love it on a first listen... there's a lot to take in. The production value is some of the best I've heard. The songs sound 3D, huge and deep (lol?). The musicinaship is as excellent as ever. The arrangements within the songs and the overall feel is very futuristic yet retro. They've used both "organic" and "synthetic" musical instruments, blended seemlessly to fully express each song as needed. The execusion is brilliant! As unique as this album is, it's covered in Muse DNA. These guys are always recreating their sound, evolving, growing with each album... yet always maintaining their prominant character. Their songs continue to resonate with me on the highest level, and for that I'm very grateful:)

Its amazing!!! The sick beats in the backround added with amazing singing just makes the WHOLE album so good. Definitely recommend buying.
